ABOUT ME
I began my professional career as a woodcarver more than 20 years ago. I am a self-taught artist. My carved characters and love of children inspired me to begin writing and illustrating children's fables. As a writer and illustrator I hope to encourage good moral character and a positive outlook on life. My fondest memories of raising my son were when we read together...I hope my books can provide that for others.
Joy's work has been presented at the White House, featured in Early American Life Magazine, The American Museum for Women in the Arts, The Museum of American Folk Art in New York City and in countless private collections around the world.
I am from Charlotte North Carolina but have moved many times with my husbands military and government careers. I will always consider myself a Southerner but I love seeing new places and meeting new friends. I love our great country and hope to see it all! I am currently living in Juneau, Alaska.
